    Description

17th-18th century, of distinct Spanish form. 4 1/2” length with thin wedge section blade. The base with pivot pin and suspension loop. The thinness of this blade identifies it as a weapon only, configured for slashing. A working knife would require a much thicker blade. Excellent excavated condition. Dating to the period of rampant piracy. As sailors on naval ships and merchantmen were prohibited from carrying pointed knives this example likely was carried by a pirate. Specifically fighting form and weight.
